  • Born and educated in Newcastle, Dr McConkey undertook specialist training in the UK, Newcastle and the USA and has been working as a Consultant Anaesthetist locally since 2001.

    He currently holds VMO appointments at John Hunter, Lake Macquarie Private and Newcastle Private hospitals with a special interest in cardiothoracic anaesthesia, intraoperative echocardiography and anaesthesia for liver surgery, upper GI and reproductive surgery.

    He is happy to meet patients in the rooms if they have any specific concerns prior to surgery
